Back to School Shopping? How to Choose the Right Backpack

August 7, 2015

That time of year is here again and if you are going back-to-school shopping this weekend, you will most likely be choosing a new backpack for yourself or your child. While you are trying on backpacks, look for the following features:

Size: Choose a backpack that is the proper size-the bottom of the pack should rest in the small of the back.

Padding: Padding on the back of the pack reduces pressure and prevent the bag’s contents from digging into the back of the wearer.

Straps: A good backpack has two shoulder straps (not just one) that are wide and padded. When properly adjusted, the pack should fit snugly to the back without bouncing or shifting while walking, but still allows free movement of the arms.

For more information about how to wear that new backpack and how to avoid back pain, read our about article about Backpacks and Back Pain in the Issues and Conditions section of our website. Happy shopping!
