Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club and Peak Sport and Spine Partner to Create Sports Medicine Program

December 10, 2015

Injured players in Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club now have better access to physicians, physical therapists, and athletic trainers because of a unique partnership between the Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club (RTVC) and Peak Sport and Spine.

This sports medicine program provides a way for members of RTVC to receive medical treatment and assessments for injuries incurred during play.  “It is very rare that you find a partnership such as this at the amateur or youth-sports level,” said Gretchen Moser, Director of Rockwood Thunder Volleyball Club. “With hundreds of players participating in our volleyball programs each week, this unique program means that any injured RTVC member can get the immediate care they need.”

As part of the partnership, PEAK Sport and Spine is coordinating care for Rockwood Thunder players and facilitates communication between players, families, and medical professionals involved in their care. Peak Sport and Spine will assess and treat injuries, coordinate doctor’s appointments, set-up referrals and assist with all aspects of their medical plan.  In addition to treating injuries, Peak Sport and Spine also provides education to players, coaches, and staff regarding concussions, injury prevention and training.

Ryan Noirfalise, Physical Therapist with Peak Sport and Spine, says “Our goal is two-fold. For injured players, we want to help RTVC streamline the process of assessing injuries and coordinating proper care to get the athletes back into the game as quickly as possible.  In addition, the second goal is to help relieve the stress of medical care off the coaches, staff, and families of RTVC and provide quality sports medicine to Rockwood Thunder.”
